Latest Shells to Color

Shells from the Sea banner

My Latest Shells to Color

My latest Shell picture for you to color. In real life the bigger Shell I have is a dark Pink and White. Well kind of a Pinkish Brown. The other ones around it are all shades of Brown, from the little Cowrie Shell, to the Conch which is several shades of Brown, to the Cone one which is light Brown and White. If you want to color the sand in a different color to bring out the colors, I suggest you use some metallic pencils. And don't be afraid to do the background as sea glass and use brighter colors. I did a few that way and they get lots of positive feedback.

If you need to see some shells to decide on your colors you can see them here.

Be sure to use Aurora Art Supplies colored pencils! They are on sale for only $10!

Funny Shells: Stars and Horses

Shells from the Sea banner

Starfishes and Seahorses

I think I have been in love with both Starfishes and Seahorses since I was about 7 and found some of both on a beach in Southern France when my parents took me on vacation there. I just couldn't believe that a fish was shaped like a star! Or a horse with a bony body that looked like a dinosaur! To a 7 year old that was just mind blowing. These specimens came from South Texas, not France, as I didn't collect Shells in those days; that started later when I was in my early adulthood. Since that time I always get a Shell from every beach I visit. Enjoy coloring my little collection of Shells!

More Shells

More Shells From the Sea for You Today

This is a drawing of my Clam Shell I found on a beach in South Texas a long time ago. It's not that colorful by itself, as it was already sun bleached when I found it, but I put sand and bits of other Shells and colored glass with it so the drawing would be more interesting. In person, this Clam Shell is about 9 inches across! I keep it on a stand in my entry way with a few other favorite Shells. Enjoy!

Shells and Sea Glass

Shells from the sea banner

A New Composite of Shells

Here is a new Shell drawing from my Shells From the Sea Coloring Book. You could color it as a set of Shells on the sand, or you could imagine it as a set of Shells sitting on a bed of Sea Glass. I have seen it colored both ways and it looks great either way. The Chambered Nautilus is a drawing of one that I have that is pearly White, iridescent really. It's one of my favorite Shells and I got it in the Philippine Islands.

New Shell on a Sunday

Shells from the Sea banner

Finally, a New Shell for You!

I've been on vacation for a month so if you are following along and checking out my Shell drawings, you might have wondered what happened. Well I went to beaches all around Ireland! I visited the Cliffs of Moher, and the Giants' Causeway in Northern Ireland to name a couple of places. They both have shells at their beaches so I added to my collection. Here's a new one from my Shell book for you.

A Shell Photo I Colored

shells from the sea banner

My Own Coloring

People sometimes ask me to post colored photos of my art. But I've got a secret for you. I'm not really the greatest colorist. I am much better at pen and ink and paper, or pencil and paper, and Calligraphy and Line Drawing.

But I did color a couple of my own line art images in the last few weeks because people asked me to. I used Aurora colored pencils, naturally!

So here is one I did this week. Enjoy!

Another Day, Another Shell Page to Color

Shells From the Sea Banner

New Day, New Shell

Today I have a beautiful shell for you. I got this one on a beach in the Philippine Islands a long time ago. There are so many shells there. Long ago the natives used them as a form of money. That really is strange to me. You could go beach combing and go home with money. Wouldn't that be awesome? Shell drawing from coloring book Shells from the Sea

New Shell Image to Color

Shells from the Sea Banner

A New Shell Image for a Friday

It's Friday and time for another shell coloring page you can see and decide if you like my new book, Shells From the Sea. Some people have asked my why I watermark them. Well the short answer is that too many people want things for free. How many hours do you think it takes me to draw my Shell pages? Hours and hours. So while I hope you enjoy them immensely, I do like to eat too. And also I don't want my images on other people's stuff that they then sell. Fair enough? However you can make copies of the pages after you buy my book and color them over and over till you get one the way you want before you frame it! Just please leave my copyright info on the finished product, okay?  Here is my new Shell image for you. Enjoy!

Shell for Today

Shells from the Sea banner

Shell Photo of the Day

Today's shell coloring image is the second one in my Shells From the Sea Coloring Book. This is a shell I found in Cebu, one of the Philippine Islands. In real life it is Brown with Black and Tan markings. I have always prized it for it's unusual colors. The Philippine Islands have incredible beaches and the water around them is pristine. In places it is so clear you can see much further down than you could ever swim! Your ear drums would burst if you tried to go that deep, yet it looks like you could just reach under water and scoop up the shells. Of course you can color it any way you want. Many colorists choose fantasy colors even for real objects and that's okay. Art should be fun!

A Shell Photo for Friday

shells from the sea banner

Shell Photo for Today

So it's a Friday here as I post one of the Shell drawings  from my book. Yes I kind of like intricate drawing. And when I color them I like to color each individual little grain of sand, with multiple sand colors like real sand is. I could not actually draw sand as fine as much of it is though. These drawings of mine have sand that is more like the course sands you might find on beaches in the South of France among other places. I think this Coral and the other Shells here are from beaches in the Philippine Islands where I once lived.
